好多時，寫文章時句法單調，不少同學都用實物作為主語。由於文章經常圍繞某一至兩個主語，作為比較，但篇幅一拉長，就少不了重覆運用同一兩個名字主語，語句生硬而單調。

其實學員從少都學過不少動詞，將動詞加上ing，變成Gerund，就可以增加不少生字，令用語變得變化多端。

例如：Some students find it difficult to learn English so they try to shirk their responsibilities to improve it.

Learning English becomes a difficult task to some students so they try to shirk their responsibilities to improve it.

從此例中，可以見到將Learning English變成一個片語Phrase，則能輕易地將句法變得生動，而不需要不斷重覆students或youngsters之類的名詞。由於動作變化較大，所以句式變化就多了。
